Chen Chen Yu

Chen Chen Yu (b. 1984, Taiwan) works across sculpture, installation, and video, exploring how affect is materially expressed and transmitted in contemporary life. His practice traces the flows of belief, desire, and anxiety through bodies and objects, revealing how the production of affect is entangled with corporeal politics and everyday systems of making and use. Inflected with humor, absurdity, and sensitivity, his works probe the fragile tensions between what supports, leaks, or resists within these cycles.

RESIDENCY PROJECT 

During his MeetFactory residency, Chen Chen Yu will explore the fractured history of the Sudetenland, focusing on the material and social rupture caused by the 1945 expulsion. He is interested in how this massive displacement shaped the region's object production, and how these historical traces can connect to his own sculptural practice. By looking at the post-war landscape as a social prosthetic, he continues his ongoing exploration of corporal politics and searches for new sculptural vocabularies.
